Park your car, get on your walking boots and take a hike. Crow Point is a beautiful, quiet unspoilt spot where you can take in the Taw and Torridge estuary, view Instow and Appledore which are just across the estuary. It’s a fantastic place to get away from it all. Soak up the beauty of this unspoilt part of North Devon, you won’t be disappointed!

Let your hair down at The Thatch. The Thatch Croyde is somewhat of an institution in Croyde. Weekends are a lively affair with live music and open mic events. Get there early and grab a table (it gets super busy), order your favorite tipple and a large bowl of nachos, The Thatch is famous for them. Don’t blame us for the hangover!

If you haven’t tasted a pasty then as far as we are concerned you haven’t lived! Get your chops around one of the South West’s most famous foods. Try a pasty from either Sandleigh Tea Room, The Stores or the Old Cream Shop. For some wild and wacky flavours check out The Old Cream Shop which has the most variety. Our personal favourite is a traditional pasty from Sandleigh Tea Room.

 

Come rain, wind or shine Croyde beach is a fantastic place to hang out. If the sun is shining then head to the beach for a few hours of R&R. Get out your deckchair, put up your windbreak (or if you’re posh a sun tent), tie 4 corners in your hanky and kick back. Explore the rock pools, watch the surfers, build a sandcastle or fly a kite. There’s a ton of stuff to do on the beach.

 

What? Catch a movie at the beach? Well if you fancy a movie experience with a difference then The Deckchair Cinema might be right up your street! Showing at Croyde Village Hall, The Deckchair Cinema shows an eclectic mix of films. From surf cinema, to children’s favorites. Support this not for profit community cinema which raises money for great causes in the local area.

 

One of the most spectacular walks in North Devon can be easily accessed right out of Croyde Bay. The National Trust trail from Croyde to Baggy Point takes in spectacular cliff and ocean vistas, amazing bird and sea wildlife, and it’s great exercise too! The walk commences at the National Trust Car Park and the well marked trail is around 3 miles there and back. It’s a must do when visiting Croyde. If you’d prefer a longer walk try the circular walk to Baggy Point which takes in Putsborough too.

Explore the coastline, Croyde style. Want an adventure, full of adrenaline? Coasteering is an extreme way to get to know the coast surrounding Croyde Bay. There are some awesome spots to take a coasteering trip along the rugged rocks leading towards Baggy Point. There are a number of adventure tour guides who will safely introduce you to this awesome sport. Grab your helmet, wetsuit, buoyancy aid and jump in!

May Cottage Tea rooms is like taking a walk back in time. Enjoy a traditional cream tea inside a beautiful quaint cottage right in the heart of Croyde Bay. Rich double cream, freshly home baked scones and lovingly prepared jam make this a favorite with holidaymakers and locals alike.

Near any coast in the UK fish and chips is an institution. There isn’t a fish and chip shop in Croyde village, but Braunton has the best fish and chips. In Braunton, a 5 minute drive away, you’ll find 2 award winning fish and chip shops.

Croyde is perhaps most synomynous with surfing. When you’re in Croyde you can’t fail to notice the whole village centres around surfing culture. It’s official, if you’re visiting Croyde you HAVE to try surfing. If that wasn’t reason enough then there are several exceptional surf schools located right in Croyde itself. So what are you waiting for, get your wetsuit on and hit the surf!
