One of the best UK beaches for surfing can be located via a scenic journey along an outcrop of land in North Devon that leads to beautiful Croyde Bay.

Once there, you have a wonderful opportunity to learn to surf – or perfect your surfing skills – in the safe hands of the Croyde Surf Academy.

For some, Croyde is the absolute pinnacle of British surf options as the waves here are reliable, gathering strength in the sheltered bay. However, even with a well-organised team of lifeguards stationed on Croyde beach, it is not for the fainthearted!

This makes finding expert tuition in surfing – as well as coasteering – vital. Even the more advanced surfers can benefit from the local knowledge and ‘sea-sense’ of the accredited instructors from Croyde Surf Academy.

Their competence can be the root of your confidence!

What’s coasteering?

More on the surfing prowess of the company, and its options for beginners and devotees, later.

The team at Croyde Surf Academy have used their in-depth experience of this incredible piece of UK shoreline to develop an exciting additional activity – coasteering! Think Parkour but using Mother Nature as the provider of the perfect obstacle course and training backdrop!

Coasteering with Croyde Surf Academy will involve taking in huge breaths of the clear Devon sea air, as you jump and climb on ancient rocks and swim to remote gullies around the fabulous Baggy Point. With the help of highly trained experts, you can see aspects of this rugged coastline that few people are privileged to experience.

To get involved in coasteering adventures, you supply swimwear and suitable shoes for wet sports, and Croyde Surf Academy provides wet suits and safety equipment for your seascape workout. You have to be aged 8 years or over and fit enough to withstand 2.5 to 3 hours of being challenged in the best possible way!

Surfing in style

You can combine coasteering adventures with surf coaching from the Croyde Surf Academy. Or, select a surf course in this North Devon destination that suits your abilities and ambitions.

Whichever option you go for, equipment is provided (unless you have your own that is safe and appropriate). There are never more than 6 to 8 surf students per coach to be sure you get plenty of personal tuition during sessions lasting two and a half hours.

Surf lessons for absolute novices include time on the sand getting you ready for Croyde’s meaty swell. There are also improver lessons available and specialist kids’ beginner surf lessons for those aged five to 15 years.

One of the ways Croyde Surf Academy cements its status on the sands of the bay is by offering high-quality private lessons to all surf abilities, including advanced exponents of the sport. Which is one of the reasons people travel long distances to surf in Croyde.

The team is also happy to offer private family surf sessions and coaching and keeps its prices competitive to appeal to the abundant holidaymakers around Croyde. Prices start from £35 per lesson, but there are discounts for block booking surf lessons.

Get in touch soon, as you can usually bet that the ‘surfs up’ in Croyde!
